{"id":2223,"date":"2009-05-19T13:29:22","date_gmt":"2009-05-19T20:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/osbornz.net\/amy\/?p=2223"},"modified":"2009-05-19T13:29:22","modified_gmt":"2009-05-19T20:29:22","slug":"1-corinthians-13-for-mommies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/osbornz.net\/amy\/?p=2223","title":{"rendered":"1 Corinthians 13 for Mommies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Found at <a href=\"http:\/\/popsiclesontheporch.blogspot.com\/2007\/09\/mommys-interpretation-of-1-corinthians.html\" target=\"_blank\">Popsicles on the Porch<\/a>&#8211; no idea who original author is:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: trebuchet ms;\"><br \/>\n&#8220;If I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m poetic and profound all day but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t love my kids, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m just like an annoying never-ending educational film.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If I teach my kids to memorize the whole Bible, giving my kids a deep understanding of God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mysteries and making academics a breeze for them; if I have trained them to clean the whole house when I snap my fingers, to be quiet, still and compliant, but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t love my kids, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m worse than a dead-beat parent refusing to pay child support.<\/p>\n<p>If I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t buy myself jewelry, new clothes or anything nice ever again, but spend every penny on my children, if I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m a real \u00e2\u20ac\u0153martyr mom\u00e2\u20ac\u009d staying up all night working on their birthday parties, Halloween costumes, and decorating their rooms, but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t love them personally and deeply, they might as well be orphans.<\/p>\n<p>So no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m worse than useless without love.<\/p>\n<p>Loving my kids means never giving up (on them, on their father, on the family, on their future.)<\/p>\n<p>Love is patient with a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153screamer,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d kind to a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153brat.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Love cares more for her childrens joyful fulfillment than for her own \u00e2\u20ac\u0153self-actualization\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>Love doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t expect her kids to be something they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not, doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wish they were more like somebody else\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s kids. Doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t brag about their achievements and live for that vicarious glory.<\/p>\n<p>Love doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tyrannize her children, or rudely wish they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d go away.<\/p>\n<p>Love doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t condescend to her kids or force her own paradigms and agendas on them. Isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t always \u00e2\u20ac\u0153me first.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d But loves them with reckless abandon (sometimes saying goodbye forever to careers, traveling the world, old interests and dreams, and, of course, that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153bikini body!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d)<\/p>\n<p>Love doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t fly off the handle or scream at her children. Doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t yank them around or cringe in embarrassment when they just act like kids. Doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tally up the disobedience from the whole week and get progressively furious.
