Today I had to go to the bank and while there I was asked about my occupation. As the list flitted through my head, you know this one….<\/p>\n

Chauffeur …\u00c2\u00a0Personal Assistant\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0Nurse\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Personal Chef\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Educator\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Maid\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Laundress\u00c2\u00a0…\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Accountant … ok … you get the picture<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

…I instead picked the simplicity of saying homemaker….I mean sometimes it’s just not worth the explanation. \u00c2\u00a0Later in the conversation, someone else pointed out they had\u00c2\u00a0accidentally\u00c2\u00a0written down mommaker. \u00c2\u00a0We all laughed as it was corrected.<\/p>\n

But later I was\u00c2\u00a0reflecting\u00c2\u00a0on the fact that I AM a mom-maker<\/strong>…and to a smaller extent, a dad-maker too. \u00c2\u00a0I know my role is important but there are many days my goal is that everyone stay in one-piece until bedtime. \u00c2\u00a0There are days when I am counting the years, the days, the HOURS until she or he is 18 and I can worry less and feel less responsible for their choices. (note that now I have an 18 yr old, I realize I will never NOT feel responsible and worried for my kids! never!)<\/p>\n

But with this little typo, I am realizing that I am influencing not only MY child in her day to day life but also another, FUTURE, generation! \u00c2\u00a0I am modeling behavior that my daughter will either reject or embrace when she becomes a mother. \u00c2\u00a0And, so what am I modeling?<\/p>\n
