I had a great weekend!! Friday (not really part of the weekend…but oh well) Trina and I got together to finish our April quilt squares. Normally we don’t cut it so close (they were due on Saturday morning) but both of us had interesting months! She brought her kids (6 mos and 2 yrs) over and somehow we got them done! While we were doing that Eric and the boys tried to see Iron Man – but it was sold out! OH!! And, Eric bought a new commuter car! A 2006 Kia Spectra for his daily commute! I finally got to drive it/ride in it tonight (Sunday) and it’s a fun little car!

Saturday morning Trina and I gathered up the girls (6 mo and 9 mo) and headed to Winters for the first Saturday Quilt morning. Afterwards, we enjoyed a bit of breakfast in Winters. Two things were sort of a bummer at breakfast (1) a man at the next table gave me a dirty look when JGirl squeeled once and (2) a waitress – while clearing our table – said ‘You’ve got some noisy girls there.” 🙁 Not cute, just noisy. Sigh. At least they were happy girls!

Then – since neither of our husband’s were looking for us, we decided to visit our only local yarn shop. We had heard it was going to be closing by the end of this month – we both felt guilty, but we have been too busy to shop there or even visit it very often. It is a nice shop – lots of Acrylic but a growing inventory of wool! And, she has a great meeting area which is very kid friendly. So we decided to make another Day knit time – but this once will be at her shop! It will be on Fridays – 10am to 12/1pm. If you are in the area – come knit/crochet/hang out with us! **Theresa – think you might be able to join us sometime?? I’ll make lunch for you and the kids!**

Then….since, the guys STILL weren’t looking for us…we decided to check out Ross. We really enjoyed it and found some fun stuff! I found some Mother’s day gifts (shhh), and a cake platter with a lid that I’ve been wanting for awhile!!

Saturday late afternoon the boys finally got to see Iron Man (which they enjoyed) and I enjoyed a quiet house. Ruth came over with warm blueberry scones and tea and we knit for a bit. Well, I crocheted. I bought some cotton yarn and picked up a free crochet pattern for a market bag. It’s a fun, mindless pattern which I’m enjoying.

This morning we had a great prayer/worship service. Very different and VERY enjoyable. Sunday school was fun too – we shared some of our struggles with prayer and shared solutions that worked for us. It was very encouraging!

This afternoon Eric had a LOTR game and JGirl, J3 and I went over to my mom’s to hang out until dinner time – Eric and older boys joined us for that. Now, the boys are spending the night at Grammy’s – and the house is pretty quiet. JGirl is rocking out in her exersaucer and Eric and I are in our matching recliners – yes, we have matching recliners. I know it’s probably silly but we didn’t want to share! lol

So, that was our weekend. 😉 I think I have pictures and even a video to share – but that will have to be another post – I can’t believe you read all of this! lol

Edited to reply to Theresa’s comment…

No, that’s the cool thing about this – she is TOTALLY kid friendly.  The room is huge, food and drink are acceptable in this room.  There are toys, tv & vcr and room for any other activity your kids might want to bring with them!
Think about it – no pressure!
Amy 🙂

First, a bit of fun…overheard in our house in last few weeks.  During dinner, J3 (7) says “Where do babies come from?”

Freaked out Mommy replied “Ask Daddy!”

Quick thinking Daddy replied “Portland.”

LOL

Now…why am I mad?  Well, it seems someone is undermining my husband’s sense of self worth and value.  And, I’m outraged!  This person can never just listen … they have to zing him at every opportunity.  The latest one was that he should get another job because “you don’t even work all year around.”  ARGH!!  Does this person remember how long it took Eric to find this job?  This job that pays him year around – maybe not the highest salary, but the benefits more than make up for that!  Benefits like:

  • Well, the obvious – Insurance
  • Great people to work with
  • A Godly institution that he can be proud of representing
  • Timeshare opportunities during vacations
  • Gifts throughout the year – not just from the kids who call him Mr. Funstein and can’t wait to get it in his class but also each teacher has a secret gifter who prays for them and sends them notes of encouragement!
  • 2 weeks off at Christmas
  • 3 weeks off each Spring
  • 6-8 weeks off each Summer (I forget and I am not going to look it up)

And, personally I think just having all that time off with our family is HUGE!  Every kid wants their parents time and approval and we are blessed to have that time to work on giving that approval!  To show them we want to be with them!

I was hoping writing this out would help me get rid of my anger.  But it hasn’t.  Guess I better start praying for this person!

We have been discussing replacing Eric’s commuter car for awhile. Today he said something about a motorcycle. But I reminded him that J3 still needed to go to Dixon too…unless I was homeschooling him next year (a constant request from me). For about 5 seconds I could see him fantasizing about having a motorcycle again! lol I didn’t get my hopes up! But I love it when I think of an argument that he can’t quickly refuse!
