I’m not sure where it went…but it sure was busy. Here is what I remember:

  • I filed/shredded 8″ of paperwork.
  • I filled out/printed out/copied about three inches of paperwork.
  • I went to two water classes – one where I unfortunately did not wear sunblock so now I’m a slightly pink color.
  • We had two BBQs with the inlaws. One on the Fourth – Eric’s sister’s and kids came too. Then we headed to the local High School and celebrated with other town folk…here are some pics from that:

Oh my – that was hard!!
  • I finished some socks and cast on tons of other projects! lol
  • I attended my weekly Knit Night – here some pics from that one. You never know what you might be asked to model! 😉

  • Attended a preliminary meeting to learn more about buying a home. Not sure what will happen – but definitely feel it can’t hurt to find out if we can afford anything. Scary though!!

Another repost from my Knitting Blog…too hot to be able to put a couple of words together…forgive me!

Pattern: Laura’s Fluted Bannister Socks

Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Socks, Watercolor

Needles: Addi Turbos, Size 2 (2.76 mm)

Thoughts: Love the yarn, the pattern was great and mindless. I’ll wear them (well, not in THIS heat) but I’m not a fan of the pooling. Did Magic Loop – but cuff-down this time. Still prefer toe-up!

This week, Eric has been at Camp – he is speaking to Jr Highers. About 1 week before camp started we found out that the ages for this camp were actually going into 6th grade through 8th grade. Which means it was the perfect age for J1…who is going into sixth grade even though he is 12.5 (which strangely does NOT make him the oldest in his class or the biggest).

It was decided that J1 would go – he could hang with his friend J (yes, another boy – named with a J – he fits in just perfect around here). J1 was nervous. I was nervous. But not for the same reasons. My reasons mainly included the dreaded “G” word – girls! Yikes! In the end, after a few prayers, we both gave up our fears and he and Dad left.

Those of us left at home were definitely missing Dad & J1. Dad would chat with us everyday between events. Yesterday, I could tell that he was down. Turns out that J1 had asked him if he would not do anymore monologues because “kids are looking at me“. To which his friend, J, added – “yeah, they totally look at him!” lol

While I would shrug this off as adolescent angst – Eric was pretty down about it. It really hurt his feelings since their relationship has always been very tentative and rocky. I decided right there and then that he needed to visit with the younger boys – who are still willing to be cuddled. So, 2 hours later we arrived. Dad was thrilled…the little boys were thrilled…and, other than asking if he could go home early, J1 ignored us.

Until we were leaving (we only stayed for Dinner and to watch Daddy’s last presentation) then J1 ran across a ball field to catch up with us. “Mom, tomorrow night can we have ice cream? Something to celebrate us all being home again?” Then he asked if he could ride up to the gate with us. And, up there….where no kids could look at him….he insisted on hugging and kissing me. (dirty, dirty – what moms have to put up with! ;))

Growing up is so hard.

(well, here’s a switch – now I’m copying posts from my Knit Blog!)

So I got my invite yesterday and I made good use of my time.  I added 13 projects (finished and WIPs), Queued 2 projects (in other words, things you plan to knit), added 8 books from LibraryThing, stashed 8 yarns, added 10 friends and catalogued half of my needles.  (I need to give some of these DPNs away – truly!)

I was very glad I had added my knitting photos to Flickr and my books to LibraryThing in preparation…but I wish I had completed the photo box (or started it! LOL) and photographed my stash.

So, to my friends who were wondering – Ravelry is a great organizational tool but it’s so much more than that!  You can find others who are

  • Knitting in your neighborhood
  • Knitting the same things as you
  • Just plain knitters!!

If you haven’t signed up yet – do it!  If you have and are waiting…take pics, get organized, and have patience! It’s worth it!!

Dh is at camp until Friday.  And, J1 is now on his way there too. (sigh) I’m feeling sort of unsettled now.  I don’t like be alone.  Yes, yes…I know that I just posted about LOVING to be alone but that was by choice!  For the next 4 days or so I am it!  I’m the responsible adult.  I’m the one who has to remember to water the grass in addition to everything else!

In some ways parenting while DH is away is easier.  I’m the last voice.  No one attempts to ask Dad for a better answer.  I’m a little more loose about meals, bedtimes and the like.  But I don’t like it!  I’m going to be counting down the days until he returns!
