As you might know – we have three boys – and this year we got involved with Scouting. Boy, did we!

Eric is helping J2’s pack as Assistant Cubmaster. Next fall I’m going to be the Tiger Den Leader as J3 will join the pack too. I’m also doing their website: http://www.woodlandpack130.com.

J1 is part of Troop 68 – lots of camping and other great activities. I’m also doing their website: http://www.woodlandtroop68.org
Now, all that is normal…but today I’ve been going a bit crazy with all the preparations for various camps!!

J1 is going to Camp Wente in July. But by tomorrow his Scoutmast needs to know what merit badges he’s going to work on. And, even though she came over and explained it all to us – I sort of freaked out! I sent her an email and am eagerly awaiting confirmation. Also, before Camp he’s going to a merit badge Saturday in June and a 2 night campout weekend after this!

Then J2 and J3 are going to twilight camp next week. But really we are all going. Eric will be helping out as will J1. And, since J3 will be a Tiger, he needs an adult participant…me! There is pretraining for all attending adults…forms….fees…..details…details…details…I am literally sitting here with a STACK of papers to read. Ugh!

OTN: Well, last night I realized the Anastasia Socks aren’t going to work for me unless I change them. Because I do two socks at once on Magic Loop, I would have to read two charts all the time…not something I’m up for! So, I’m doing the Fluted Banister socks…my friend Ruth gave me the pattern. Just mindless enough to be perfect!

Ok – back to my paperwork!!

Remember high school? Yeah, I hated it too. I never understood why I cared so much about what some people thought! I wish I had the strength then that I have now.

Now, I do what I want…when I want and I let others’ opinions (mostly) roll off my back.

So, why have I been struggling to knit a Clapotis or Jaywalkers? Don’t get my wrong – I do love them. And, since they are so easy I can see why they are popular. But as I frogged both items this weekend – not at the same time, that would have been traumatic! – I sort of felt relieved. I realized that I was knitting them because I felt I had too. I was wanting to fit in again! I didn’t want to finally get to join Ravelry and be the only kid wearing the Sears brand in stead of Levis! I mean, look! Right on the front page – Jaywalkers!!

I decided that I’m going to be the adult that I am – and resist the temptation to knit things just so I can be part of the crowd. However, if I don’t get into Ravelry soon I am going to die!!! My life will be incomplete!!! I’ll never get happy again!!! (smack!) Ok – I’m better now. I promise to act my age! 😉 Well, maybe not MY age but older than high school!

So, what am I knitting now??

See, I never did update my progess bars.

Here are some photos from my life the past few weeks….

Last week at our Knit Night – Ashely was sharing about her arts. She brought some of her beautiful woodwork, first projects (we could not get her to model them) and finally her wonderful photography and scrapbooks! Tammy is here too – admiring Ashley’s photography. If you live in the Woodland, CA area and would like to join us each week – check out: Woodland Textile Arts Guild (Wtag).

My friend Ruth took a quiz that showed her to be an honest friend. Here are my results:

You Are a Good Friend Because You’re Supportive

You are almost like a life coach for your best friends.
You give them help when they need it… but you also know when to give them a push.

People tend to rely on you for moral support and advice.
You’ve probably always been mature for your age, so this is a role that’s you’re comfortable with.

A friend like you is one of the rarest kinds.
You are both a good mentor and companion.

Your friends need you most when: They are confused or worried

You really can’t be friends with: Someone who only wants to complain

Your friendship quote: “The only way to have a friend is to be one.”

Your Score: Bert

You scored 79% Organization, 46% abstract, and 45% extroverted!

This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are very organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

Here is why are you Bert.

You are both very organized. You almost always know where your belongings are and you prefer things neat. You may even enjoy cleaning and find it therapeutic. Bert is a big neat freak and gets quite annoyed when Ernie makes a big mess.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Bert is probably a bit more concrete in his bottlecap collecting addiction and his love of the weather. He does show his abstract side when he sings and performs his “Doin’ The Pidgeon” song. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren’t afraid to explore your dreams and desires… within limits of course.

You are both somewhat introverted. Bert is probably more introverted, because he spends most of his time either with Ernie or alone. Still he has no problem being around other people in his role as chairman of “The National Association of ‘W’ Lovers.” Like Bert, you probably like to have some time to yourself, but you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren’t scared of social situations.
