Today, Thursday, is day 4 of this new way of eating.  Though to be honest, other than no grains or fruit (for first two weeks only), I realized I’ve not really changed my method of eating too much.  And, after the first day – I’ve quit craving certain foods.  But I do wish I could eat one of the super fresh peaches, melons or pears that came in my CSA box today!! 🙁

The 2nd day of the diet, I got my period – which explained some of the stress I was experiencing just before the change.   It might also have something to do with the weigh loss I experienced.  In fact, I keep weighing myself just to see if it’s for real.  I hesitate to share about this for SO many reasons…but mainly because I never lose weight.  Seriously….weight watchers, the last time we did atkins, mcdougall (sp?),  that expensive but nasty diet we tried in PDX (blech!!)….I never lose!   The last time I remember losing weight was in 1988.  sigh.  That’s over 20 years of feeling like a failure.

In the past 3 days, I’ve lost 10 lbs!  No, seriously!!

Check it out! I have a long way to go – and maybe my goal is unrealistic – it’s 20 lbs less than I weighed when I got married but it is a goal!

But my first goal is to be down 50 lbs before our vaction in Fall 2010 to VA & Washington DC…but I’m so encouraged I’m thinking I might get there before that date!!  😀

Let me know if you answer these questions too!

Well, my day got a bit harder after I posted yesterday.  The cookie jar was calling me and I don’t even like those cookies!  LOL  I kept swigging water when I had an urge to cheat!  And, I was victorious!

Really, this way of eating is not too hard.  But the salads are really upsetting my stomach.  :(  But I’ve always had a bit of a wimpy tummy when it comes to lettuce. I think I’ll have a spinach salad instead today at lunch.  See if that helps.

This morning, Eric’s blood sugar was about 1/2 of what it’s been lately so that was a huge blessing!!

As Dad commented, this is a lifestyle change…just going along with the other changes we’ve been making for the last 6 mos or so.

Got on the scale today – and that was depressing.  I gained 12 lbs in last year.  I’m not going to obsess over the scale because it’s never been my friend.   I want to get my measurements and go by that instead.

Well, bills, work and knitting are calling me.  Sadly I don’t think I’ll have time for knitting (play) once the work is done!  But at least tonight is Knit Night!! 🙂

We tried to start our diet on Saturday but with no food in the house – that was pretty hard to do.  I was grumpy and fretful.  And we had invited some friends over for dinner on Sunday night and I had NO idea what to feed them!  So, we punted our start to today.

And, so far it has been great.  I ate a yummy breakfast and then later a snack.  I wasn’t sure I needed the snack – but after my trip to the gym, I’m glad I did.

If you are a prayer warrior – we’d appreciate your prayer.  We don’t want this to be a passing fancy.  Really it’s been coming on for the last 6 mos of little changes and today doesn’t feel all that abnormal (though I’m eating more than normal).

Off to look up recipes for dinner!

Thanks Dad, Connie, Mom, Russ & Nancy for my birthday yarn!! I’m so excited about it!!!
