When we moved into this house last August, I had my office in the dining room (aka the schoolroom). It’s centrality (is that a word?) was primo but I could never keep it clean.  And the centrality became a big problem when I could never concentrate on work.  The boys’ school computer was in a small black hutch in the living room and Eric was out of luck….he had no space to call his own.

So with the coming of the rumpus room, many options were discussed about how to handle the workstations. After a quick trip to IKEA we reacquainted ourselves with the corner hutch that we fell in love with last Summer but talked ourselves out of due to money. Yesterday we brought it home and I’m loving it! And, now, I’m in the living room (with wonderful doors to hide any clutter behind), the boys’ school computer is in the dining room (and it’s spotless and hopefully will stay that way) and Eric has taken the small black hutch into our bedroom.

Ignore the messy bookshelf, it’s going out in the rumpus room when it’s ready for moving in. Right now Hubs and boys are laying insulation and creating an attic floor in the garage for storage. Then Thursday a couple of guys are coming to build a patio in the back yard so we can have some shade. The next week these same guys are going to tape, mud and texture our rumpus room walls. Then we’ll paint and we can move stuff in.

Also we totally scored at Ikea yesterday. Not only did we get my corner hutch but also a great wardrobe for Eric’s costumes and the bookshelves we wanted in the as-is section – so at least 40% off the original price! Yeah!! I love a bargain!

ok…where was I?

  • I woke up one more and said, “I’m ready for a change!” and we completely changed the layout of our bedroom!  Thankfully Hubs likes it!
  • Yesterday we had a big work day so I wanted to make a really nice dinner.  And it turned out great, if I do say so myself! I BBQed Tritip, served a pasta and green salad and corn on the cob.  For dessert we had fresh strawberries and watermelon.  Quite possibly my new favorite meal.  If I have you over this summer, act surprised! 😉
  • The rumpus room now has power and drywall.  It’s the finishing that will have to be done now.  What a big job this was!  My brother and my brother-in-law are awesome!
  • But my Sister and my sister-in-law are even funner!  (I can’t trade purses with my Bro & BIL!)
  • My Sister-in-law and my mom totally transformed my front yard.  As soon as I can sit here for more than 5 mins I’ll be posting pictures!

Ok…my feet hurt….and I’m tired of squinting at this screen.  I’ll try to post pictures tomorrow but we are heading to IKEA (finally) to get shelving, a wardrobe for Eric’s costumes and a corner workstation for me.  Then one more trip to the dump and the trailer goes back to UHaul…what a blessing that has been!

Since we last gathered together…

  • We cleaned out our garage…several trips to the dump involved! Ugh…how can we possibly have this much stuff after all that cleaning??
  • We went on a vacation to Lake Tahoe – specifically Incline Village, NV.  There we enjoyed Geocaching, a day trip to Virginia City, some time in the snow at a super high elevation and some veg time.  Unfortunately, for me, the internet issue was not great so I feel like I’m still behind at work!  Unfortunately, for Eric, his asthma was really bad at that altitude so we came home a day early.
  • I was able to finish one book and had some quiet knitting time so that was really nice.
  • After our return we started prepping our garage for the demolition job – there was a poorly built room out there that we wanted down.  Yeah for Pastor Andy’s help – we didn’t have a clue what we were doing!
  • Yesterday I took the puppies to the groomers….they came home SO cute!  (pics to follow – when there is time!)
  • We took our old freezer to Trina’s house and brought home an old refrigerator for our garage!
  • And, can I tell you – I have NO idea how I existed this long (with a family of this size!) and only one refrigerator!  Finally a place to put the extra gallons of milk, veggies and all that!!
  • Yikes!! Family arrived with donuts! There is much more to share…I’ll try again later! And photos! OH my!  I’ll be back!! 🙂

My local Knit Night group went to Raley Field in West Sacramento, CA for a little minor league Stitch & Pitch!  I really enjoyed the company and the game was good….if you were rooting for the Reno Aces. 🙁   The Rivercats lost by 4. 🙁 But I really think I’d like to go again sometime with the kids!
