Today is the first day of January, 2009.  I’d say it was a new beginning…but it really isn’t.  My family is the same.  My home is the same.  My work is the same.  And. That. Is. How. I. Like. It!

Last night we were going to get together with friends – but Tis the Season you know – and they had to cancel due to illness.  So, when other friends called to invite us for ‘Brats at their church, we said “Yes!” and it was great.  Though we had to leave soon after 8pm as JGirl was too tired.  The minute we got home, she started waving bye-bye…her nightly tradition that means get-me-to-bed-asap!

I went to bed at 9pm.  The Hubs and boys light the fire and watched some tv – I think they made it to midnight.

Today we’ve laid around…I worked…did laundry…bought groceries…made dinner and now I’m loading Turbo Tax on my laptop.  Going to plug in some numbers and see what info we still need to pull together.

Yeah…boring.  But not-boring is Not-fun.  I am all about a boring 2009!  Here’s to hoping! 😉

Ruth gifted me with some yummy pink yarn for Christmas. I started a hat for me..but it was too small.  So I tried to shorten it for JGirl…but it’s a bit big.  But it’s adorable!  I’m not sure if I’ll try to make a hat for me with leftovers or buy the additional yarn from Ruth and make a sweater for JGirl…it’s really nice yarn!

My one and only resolution for 2009 is to scrapbook more – digital scrapbooking to be precise.  To that end, I started a accountability group (see sidebar)  – anyone who wants to join us is welcome. I hope we can set monthly goals and encourage each other to keep them!

So, my goals for January 2009 are:

  • Scrapbook any Christmas pics I took – I’m afraid I don’t have many 🙁
  • Organize my pictures, embellishments, etc on my external hard drive
  • Find some tutorials for Photoshop

🙂

Hubs has promised me a dishwasher – and soon.  There are two options in front of us…

1)  Get a portable dishwasher – like this one – and tuck it into the space by the refrigerator. (pay no attention to price/features – I just grabbed first ones I could find)

Pros:  I could probably get it – and use it – in next few weeks.  No need to plumb or install anything.

Cons:  I’d have to worry about having it in middle of kitchen (blocking kitchen) when in use or when being loaded.

2)  Get a built in dishwasher – like this one – and install it under the counter to the right of the sink.

Pros:  It would be permanent.  There would be no concerns about blocking kitchen.

Cons:  I would have to wait until I could have it installed….and possibly have to pay for it to be installed.  I’d lose at least 1/2 cupboard and 1 drawer in my small kitchen (however, I would have room for a free-standing pantry in kitchen)

What would you do?
