We started Christmas on Sunday afternoon at my mom’s. I was too distracted I guess to get photos – maybe Beth will post some on her blog (if she even remembers she has one! LOL)

But I did get this picture of J2 in Grammy’s Mistletoe hat:

We spent the night and went to see National Treasure 2 on Monday afternoon. J1 wasn’t feeling too well, so we ended up staying home from church and having leftovers. We listened to Eric read the Christmas story, sang some old Christmas carols and watched The Muppets Christmas Carol.

Today we woke up to J2 squealing about his gift! We had to wake J1 and then we did gifts…more on that later. Here are some pictures from this morning:

Uhoh! Someone figured out my alter-ego! Monster Mommy! 😉

J1’s surgery on Thursday has made sure that this boy who is always on the go has to stay in one place.  Fortunately, he has not been complaining.  All he needed was a pen and lots of paper.  He’s been creating page after page of comics – about 20 boxes on a page.  Now, he’s writing his biography to accompany his comics.

He said to me “When I was in school, I could never think of anything to write.   Now I can’t stop the ideas.”

Wow.

A good reminder to me not to schedule his life so much that his creativity is squelched.  I guess sometimes the mind needs a break too.

Today J1 had to have some minor (to whom I wonder? Certainly NOT minor to us!!) surgery. We are home safe and sound now – he had some trouble coming out of anesthesia but after some additional medication got that resolved and was able to come home. I took a couple pictures to share with his family:

(edited to add: No, J1 didn’t triple in size. They used this thing called “bear hug” to keep him warm. I think it’s at the top of his Christmas list now! LOL)

Afterwards with his new friend…

Thank you for the prayers. The outcome was the best possible scenario. We are so glad to have this behind us!

4 edits – guess I’m more out-of-it then I realized.
