I feel discouraged today and I have no good reason for it. True, I’ve got a sink full of dishes…..laundry waiting to be washed, in the washer, in the dryer, and on the couch waiting to be folded….school to do today….presents to still buy (only a few though)…and floors that desperately need to be vacuumed, sweep and mopped (my chore for today). But that’s just life. Why this discouragement?

Maybe it’s time to change my focus! So, here are my blessings today:

1) My husband who faithfully keeps going each day even though his health is not the best.
2) J1 – who has such an active mind and a wonderful sensitivity to the Lord.
3) J2 – who is always joyful and interested in life.
4) J3 – who’s smile brightens my day everyday!
5) That through the grace of God I’m priviledged to call them my sons.
6) A warm home.
7) A pantry full of food waiting to be prepared for my family.
8) Yarn to keep my hands busy and my mind challenged.
9) A very parttime job that allows me to work from home for a company that values God and family before the magazine!
10) Online friends who are faithful to pray and even quicker to laugh with me!
11) My wonderful extended family.
12) I’m so thankful that we live in California again…near our family.

I really could go on, but I better deal with the kitchen, laundry and the day now! 🙂

I’ve been terribly busy and not getting much accomplished – at least that’s what it feels like! However, we did get a new tree. We’ve done artificial since our Seminary years – don’t really need to anymore, but it saves us the cost of a tree! We set it up on Thursday and Friday night DH and the boys put on all our decorations. Some of our favorites are:

  • The first ornament Dh and I bought together
  • All the ornaments the boys have made
  • All the ornaments commemorating the boys births or adoptions
  • The half oyster shell with an angel painted in it – to remind of us of our years on the coast.
  • The globe that a Pastor’s Wife gave me to thank me for my ministry that she said “reached all over the World”.
  • The Fish that I got from another PW.
  • The Flying Pig – it makes me smile everytime I see it.
  • The old, ugly plastic ornaments that were my Grandma & Grandpa’s – they have a piece that twirl when placed over a light. They might be ugly but I love them all the same!

Oh, I know there are more, but I can’t think of them. We don’t have a fancy tree – but we have a great memory tree! All our ornaments have a special memory or a special person we received them from!

But, of course, anytime we go down memory lane, I’m a mess. So I helped very little and cried very much! Oh well…it gave the boys a chance to practice their skills of mercy and love.

I finished the Christmas knitting I was doing – and now I’m trying to talk myself out of taking on more! lol I want to post pics of what I knit – but I think the giftees read my blog – so I’ll post them later! I’m soooooo proud of it though! Just you wait until you see how I stretched myself! I never thought I could really do it – and I did it!! 🙂

Well, Dh is at Christmas practice and the boys are too quiet, I’d better get off here and go see what’s up!

I rarely do this – but I was told about this site today and think it has great potential! Check out LibraryThing.com!

It is a personal library catalog site! You can keep track of all your books…find others who own the same books…even read reviews and get suggestions for more book! So, if you are a booklover like me – check it out!

Oh, yes, I did start a catalog – but I’ve only one book entered so far. The only downside to the site: Finding enough time to actually input the books!
