Today – five of us from our local knitting group went to Sacramento for a Yarn Crawl.  We hit three shops and had lunch.  Here are the pictures from our day! 🙂

Our first stop was Fig Tree Alley on J Street in Midtown Sacramento.

Our second stop was Babetta’s Yarns

My purchases 😉

Enjoying the cool breeze after our shopping!

Then we had a very nice lunch at Mimi’s Cafe – Yum!

Afterward we hit my favorite store – Shelby’s Yarns – unfortunately, I was a bit tired and forgot to take pictures! :(  BUT I was still able to make some purchases! 😉

I see some Christmas knitting in my future!

Thanks Dad, Connie, Mom, Russ & Nancy for my birthday yarn!! I’m so excited about it!!!

Today my mom and I (and J3) hit some thrift stores and here are my finds:

  • Purple measuring cups and spoons (new but cheap)
  • Salad spinner (new but cheap)
  • Pyrex casserole dish with lid
  • Frying pan with VERY deep sides – almost remind me of a wok
  • butter dish
  • citrus juicer (for my boy who is always sucking on a lemon or orange or whatever we have – this will be a better option)
  • Ice cream scoop

and most exciting…at the shop that was 50% off everything today…

Bernat - 100% cotton

Bernat - 100% cotton

12 skeins for…..do you want to guess?  Well forget it…it was $2.50 for all of it!!  That is $.21/skein!!  And I love using cotton yarns!

But that wasn’t all!

Tahki Donegal Tweed - Homespun

Tahki Donegal Tweed - Homespun

4 skeins! For $1.15!!  That is $.29/skein!

So I didn’t find everything I wanted, but I am excited about what I did find!!

With the closing of our local yarn store, there are some great deals to be had. The day we heard about the store closing – I unexpectedly found myself there and pick up some Tofutsies:

And then Ruth went there on a day I could not go – and she found Cotton Fleece in “Wisteria”

and Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in “Argyle” and “Mixed Berries”

and then I cast on this pinwheel blanket – Lord willing I’ll be able to wrap up “Princess” in it before Christmas!
