• Hubs was home sick for 4 days.  That translates into: 4 days of distraction.  4 days of worrying about his asthma.  2 days of saying “yes, you still have to do school if dad is home” … 2 days of just giving up.  4 days of asking Hubs NOT to watch television in the morning.
  • He’s back to school today and now I’m worrying about his asthma at school!  I plan to call him periodically to say ‘sit down for awhile….don’t do too much….are you drinking water?”
  • Sissy has an ear infection.  ugh.  At least she is on antibiotics now and she’s return to happy child.
  • I frogged and restarted the baby blanket for Brett & Christy’s baby that’s due in less than a month.  Thank goodness we’ll be on vacation for a week soon so I can knit.
  • We are planning a vacation to Lake Tahoe area in late April.  We planned it thinking there would be no snow and lots of opportunity to check out historical stuff.  Now I hope there will be no snow!
  • Why is it Moms never really get vacations?  I’m still going to be cooking, cleaning and doing laundry.  Though I certainly plan to sit on my butt and knit as much as possible.  The Family will just have to deal with it!  They know how to cook some things!
  • As my dad and stepmom are in town, we went bowling yesterday and then came home and took a walk to find a couple of geocaches.  Our first!  J3 found the first one – I was ready to give up!  Both caches we found we only a 1 or 1.5 in difficulty (out of 5) and it was hard!  Came home and told Eric about how fun it was and he ordered me a GPS (some kind of etrex) that will arrive before our vacation! So I know we’ll be doing some geocaching on vacation!
  • Today we are taking Grandma & Grandpa to the zoo!  And, it is supposed to be in the mid 70s.  I really should go make the sandwiches for our picnic!
  • I need to get our puppies groomed.  I need to call Ruth again to find out who she uses.
  • Today I take Sissy to the orthopedist (is that right) to have her legs/hips checked.  Hoping it’s nothing.
  • We’ve been going around and around with our caseworker in Oregon.  We were supposed to finalize in March.  But there have been delays and a real lack of communication.  We just found out that she is leaving the position and we’ll have a new caseworker.  I have no idea how this will delay the adoption.  I have been calm about it but now I’m starting to fret!

Well, I’ve put off starting my day as long as possible. Life and picnic-making calls!

I’m afraid – in the knitting world – it’s called frogging.

I was about 1/2 way done with the Hemlock Ring Blanket when I realized there might be a problem.  Some research on Ravelry and online was depressing.  While several people assured me that cotton yarn will block….several people online (using the exact yarn I purchased) said it just didnt’ work for this blanket.

So I bought a modified pattern that was written for cotton (and esp for my yarn).  I looked at it this morning and it’s quite a bit different…from row 1.  sigh.  I’m on row 47.  I think there is no choice but to frog what I’ve done so far and reknit it.  I’m so bummed! 🙁

I’ve been on a starting spree!  But I’m so excited that I’m enjoying knitting again and excited about many patterns!

Here’s some of the projects on my needles:
Pink Cabled Bag

My local knitting group is having a Knit-along (KAL) for a bag.  Everyone choose a different pattern and this was my choice!  Really enjoying it!

Here is a picture of the work in progress (WIP):

Hemlock Ring Blanket

A baby blanket.  There will be a new baby in our family soon and I’m thinking this will be for him. Since I took this picture yesterday this blank is already 3 times this size.  Need to take another photo.  The yarn is a machine washable cotton/acrylic which will be perfect for their hot summers.  I want to make another one of these for me – so far it’s a great project!

Seascape Stole

Another KAL for my local group…this time lace.  I’m thinking this will be for a certain female family member who always loves everything I knit.  It’s even in a colorway that she would love.  It was going quickly until I started the blanket yesterday.

Father Day Socks

I made socks for my stepmom last year and wanted to start my dad’s next.  The yarn I picked out for his socks did NOT work and I finally realized that these socks were perfect for him.  I think they will look awesome in his crocs or birks!  They will be here next week and I’ll make sure the length is right and start the heels.  Hope to have them done by Father’s Day…but we’ll see!

Sissy’s Summer Dress

This is a cotton yarn that is left over from a couple of other projects.  It will be a wonderful summer dress that I am hoping isn’t too big.  Boring stockinette so great project for tv show to which I want to pay attention!

Old Sweatshirt Sweater

Hmm… no picture in my flickr account.  It’s an oatmeal sweater – which is great – but not nearly as interesting as socks or lace so it sits….and sits…and sits.  But one of these days I’ll start that 2nd arm and I’ll be wearing it – maybe next fall!
