The local knit group I’m involved in has started a Charity Knitting program. We’ve chosen three local charities to knit and/or crochet for each year.  (For those of you who care, that means 4 mos to knit for each one).   The first one is the Yolo Wayfarer Center.

So, I’m going public – here’s my commitment.  I’m going to knit one hat/week until our first planned donation – which should translate into 5 hats.  It’s not going to change the world – but it might help someone!

So far I have knit one hat…4 to go!  Magic loop allows you to FLY – as soon as I get past the join – for some reason I keep twisting my joins!  grrr

I would appreciate some accountability — and always appreciate encouragement! 😉

I finally found the stocking pattern from my Grandma.  She made stockings for all the family members over the years.  One of the last stockings she made was for my sister’s oldest son and you can tell she was not her normal excellent knitter.  At some point before she died, she sent me copies of her pattern.  When she died, I tried to find her original pattern, but failed.  I was so excited to find that copy – but then I misplaced it again.  But I have it now!!

So, now to learn how to do it – I’m a bit nervous but excited too!  I’ll keep you updated! 🙂

Thanks to my Dad’s calming presence – I am NOT going to turn into a screaming crazy-woman in front of him!! – and a few phone calls to my techno-savvy/beer-making brother I can actually use this d%&^ MP3 player now!! And, man….it’s fun!!! 🙂

I did make a choice at Audible.com – the Bible!  Duh!  It’s the perfect classic!  I was planning to keep my membership longer than the free month but then I discovered the world of Podcasts!!

This addiction to podcasts really can all be blamed on Roe – who discovered them about 6 mos or more ago and causally mentioned them one night at our knitting group (She knits – she crochets – she’s awesome!  Sadly she got a newish job and we rarely see her anymore :-().  I  logged the podcast information away for “someday-when-I-have-time” and instantly forgot about it!
Then, a few weeks ago when my site went down I found time!  I found two podcasts on Lost (love that show) and enjoyed them online.  But then yesterday my brother explained to me how I could download them into my player and listen at my convenience!!  Woohoo!

And, I found oodles of goodies for knitters!  Check these out:

http://www.cast-on.com/ – my favorite! Well, to be honest…the only one I’ve listened to so far! 😉 A beautiful essay by a homeschooling mom (!!) and knitter that should not be missed!   Also, a fun song called “I hate you” – which as a coverted left-hander (long story) made me laugh out loud!

Here are some others waiting to be listened to:

And the one I’m most excited about:

which is a wonderful gift to knitters – audiobooks for knitters!

Check them out – and let me know if you know of any good ones I’ve not found yet! 🙂

Taniel has posted a couple knitting quizzes – I took them all! 🙂

No time for the last one – but it was fun! 🙂

First – Julie – check out this link RE podcasts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast I’m sure you can find some scrappin’ podcasts out there! I’ve listened to a few podcasts on knitting – haven’t found a favorite yet – but if you are knitter, check out this one!

Feeling sad today. No real reason why – maybe it’s the weather. Persevering – it seems to be my middle name lately. Just keep doing what needs to be done – maybe my heart will catch up with me someday.

On the Needles – Purple socks in Cascade Fixation in this pattern. They are looking pretty small – I just keep reminding myself that they are elastic and will feel great! I put the black scarf in the frog pond…something was going wrong on the side and I could not fix it.

Tonight DH and I are going out to dinner to celebrate a couple of birthdays – Eric & Jim both are getting older! Hoping it’s a good time – hoping I’m out of this fog by then.
It’s so great to know there are 5 of you out there reading my blog!! It’s so nice to know I’m not talking to myself! 😉 I’m thinking about dressing up my blog with some country graphics – not sure if I’m up for the work, but I miss some of the fun graphics I’ve bought over the years. Every time I visit Julie’s blog I think I need to pretty up my blog! Speaking of blogs – CC – I’ve requested three times to be able to read your blog. Are you getting my messages or are you saying no?

Well, I’ve put off working and doing laundry long enough – sorry I wasn’t saying much. This blanket of sadness is pretty overwhelming today!
