I just got home and the mail was here – and there is a new Knit Picks catalog!! And, they are featuring their sock yarns – oh, I’m in love!!

If you go to their site – check out Dancing, Parade, Essential and Simple Stripes. All $2.99/ball – so that’s one pair of socks for less than $6!!! I love this company!! I’m so excited and I’m only on page 10!! 😉

Speaking of socks – here is my work in progress – 2 socks on 2 circs using Lion Brand’s Magic Stripes!

Help!!! Secret Pal – are you out there?

I’m done with the first part – using the Melody yarn. I still have 150 stitches on my needles and now I need to pick up 150 st of the Bamboo yarn…do I leave the Melody yarn on the needle as I do this? This seems very different than picking up stitches for socks. But maybe I’m missing something?

I’m slightly worried the answer is VERY simple and I’m going to be embarrassed when I hear the answer!

If anyone else has done this shawl and willing to help me – please don’t hesitate to comment! 🙂

1) I’m taking down those stupid graphical WIP bars in my sidebar. I can barely read them and I’ve got so much stuff on my sidebar, I need to clean house. So I’m going to try and keep a better record of what I’m working on and show pictures too!

2) Just finished: A ribbon dropstitch scarf for my sister. She wanted a poncho – I bought yarn for a poncho. But when she saw the yarn, she decided she would wear it more often as a scarf – ripit, ripit, ripit. But it’s done now!

3) On the Needles 1: My classic cardigan sweater. Depending on how I measure it…the back is either done or 1.5 inches from done. It is a wool/cotton blend yarn – very heavy. If I lay it out – I have 1.5 inches to go. If I hang it and measure it – it’s long enough. So, anyone know how to measure it?

4) On the Needles 2: The Lost Points Shawl from my SP7. I’m done with the insert done in Melody – boy, did that take some concentration! And just about to pick up the new yarn (Bamboo) that I’ll knit in the round. I’m a bit nervous – but it’s a great exercise for my brain cells! I’m loving the colors and the feel of this yarn! When I knit in public with this project – everyone notices and comments.

5) On the Needles 3: Two Socks on Two Circs. Well, in my desire to make sure these socks would fit me and my fat calves…I’m now knitting socks for DH. (sigh) But he is thrilled! lol

I’m sorry Secret Pal – I did receive and open your gift last weekend while I was still sick…but I was waiting to say anything because I wanted to take a photo and I just did that today! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the colors – but to be honest I’m a bit nervous about how this actually comes together! I can’t wait to try it though! Have you knit this project? If so, any advice?

For everyone else – here is what I got!

The pattern is call “The Lost Points Shawl” and there are two balls of yarn – Bamboo yarn “Fiery Red” and Melody – a sort of ladder yarn.
I’ll post pics when I start knitting this!

Oh, and my wrist – I like things a bit loose – so 7.5″ is best. 🙂

So, I’m working on my sweater – 15″ of stockinette stitch – very boring. But I love, love, love this yarn and can not wait to have this done! I just hope that it isn’t August and 105 in the shade when it’s done! Here is a picture of this work in progress. I’ll try and be faithful to update with photos as we progress!

And, more knitting goodness – yesterday I got a package from my Secret Pal!!! I was running out the door but I made us late to see what was in the box!! 😀

Inside was a beautiful card with a note, notecards that I can only describe as swanky (what fun!) and 4 skeins of “Dream” by Moda Dea. I’ve been fondling this yarn nonstop – it’s soooo soft! I did notice that is exactly my sister’s favorite color and she has been wanting me to knit her a poncho! I am so tickled by that idea! And I think it would be a great distraction when the stockinette stitch gets TOO boring! Thank you Secret Pal! I noticed you mailed this from Lake Arrowhead – I have family down there! What a beautiful place you live!!

OK – back to sick kids, homeschooling and laundry! Playtime’s over!! 😉
