I feel very flaky…but we are making another change to our homeschool schedule.

I have really been wanting to homeschool year-round.  Not just because we have some special learners in our family but also because it would help me to have a full day to focus on my job.  But after a month’s trial it became apparent that it just won’t work.  Not only is Eric home so we do more projects but also with J1 and Eric on strict school schedules, it would just work better to have everyone on the same schedule.

I’m bummed but sort of relieved.  This means I will get a school break too.  And, since I did school in June, I’m really ready to go and can really, truly let it go for a few weeks.

5 Thoughts on “More changes in our homeschool

  1. I understand – having one in school and following that calendar really makes it hard to have a totally different schedule for the others. Enjoy your break!

  2. I really thought it would work out this way. I’m sure in time you’ll find the “perfect” solution.

I think it’s a sign of the great teacher! Being flexible, trying different things, finding out what works…willing to change! You’re doing great, Amy!

  4. We do year around but also take breaks at school times too. You might be able to modify it somehow so that you don’t take the whole summer off and still be able to do the four days a week so you have a full work day… or maybe at least a half day. I don’t think it’s flaky to change your mind if it’s not working… it’d be more flaky to keep trudging along if it wasn’t working! 🙂

  5. I don’t think I could homeschool year round… I NEED summer break, probably more than the kids do. *lol*
