We had a great day at the beach as the following pictures will attest – and a gorgeous weather day to boot! Praise the Lord! However today has been so hard. I guess I’m learning that I can distract myself from the pain, but it waits for me. 🙁 As I’ve said before – grief sucks.

Anyway, here are the pictures of our day…

First we went to Bodega Head – no whales! But the tide was so low and there was so much to see that I forgot to take pictures while we were on the beach. Here is J2 after an hour on the beach – we are ready for lunch!

Here is my brother, Brett, enjoying the view

We were hungry now – but we had trouble getting Grammy (my mom) off the beach lol just kidding – it was hard to leave!

And, here is my mom and my niece enjoying our picnic lunch

Then we drove a bit south to our favorite beach “Dillons Beach” which is just north of Tamales Bay

The south part of the beach is all dunes and sandy beach – but the north part is tidepools and great rocks to climb.

J3 enjoyed the sand and my brother and sil’s dog

Even Kaya loved her first experience with the sand

J2 was intent on finding sea stars, crabs or whatever he could in the tidepools

Luckily his uncle loves the ocean too and has lots of experience to share

Grammy loves tidepools too

Here are J2’s treasures – which include a dead sand crab and three crab claws (detached) which now stink so bad they are banished to the outdoors!

It was a truly beautiful day to just sit on a rock and watch the waves

5 Thoughts on “Day at the Beach

  1. What a beautiful beach!

    You are in my prayers.

    Love you,
    Julie

  2. Beautiful trip. The pics make me homesick! :o( Nothing earthshattering to say, but I do continue to pray!

  3. Beautiful pictures of a special family time! Thank you for sharing. I love the beach, but seldom get over there. And your boys are so dear. Having lost a daughter (9 years ago today), I have been reading your blog with special interest and empathy and prayers. With time, it gets easier –but not easy. Tears still come and sometimes at the most inopportune times. But people are kind. Be open to experience every bit of pain. There is no healing without it. But stay close “under His wing” where there is safety and comfort and strength and peace. God bless you, dear lady.

    Linda

  4. I camped at this very beach with my brother and my grandparents when I was a little girl. Thanks for the memories.
