I was reading my friend’s blog this am and this quiz there. She, like me, had read the birthorder book. When I read that book as a young woman it had explained so much to me why I was the way I am (and it was RIGHT on about me) and why my siblings were like they were. For just about everyone I know – they really do show the attributes of their birthfamily. Try the quiz and see if it fits you – but better yet – get the book and read it!

You Are Likely a First Born

At your darkest moments, you feel guilty.
At work and school, you do best when you’re researching.

When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often.

In friendship, you are considerate and compromising.

Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking.

You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream.

I found this on Nancy’s blog … if you do this too, let me know so I can see your answers!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate… I’m afraid of Egg Nog lol

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wraps them… but we don’t really do Santa… they are just special surprises. 🙂

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Colored – we tried white to symbolize the star – but it just didn’t feel right to us. We are back to the lights of our childhood!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Yes, my boys live in fear of being caught under it

5. When do you put your decorations up? Generally the Saturday after Thanksgiving6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? darn! Because my absolute favorite is my mom’s Walnut Pie. Excluding dessert – then stuffing.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: One year we were visiting my G & G W. in Southern California. They went to elaborate measures to show that Santa had been in the house. He dropped his hat, ate our cookies, and left his footprint in the fireplace ashes. I was probably 4 or 5.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Same Christmas. I found the boxes for our gifts “from Santa” and realized he would not bring the boxes. I tried not to let anyone know I knew though.

9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? We open one gift – usually a new set of PJs.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Color lights, wooden garlands painted red and green, crystal garland to reflect the light. And, then all our ornaments are special ones – gifts from others – it’s getting a bit crowded now.

11. Snow: Love it or Dread it? Love it!!! But only because (1) it does not snow here and (2) only if I can stay inside and be cozy!

12. Can you ice skate? Once – I’m not sure I have the ankles for it.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? When my Grandma D was still alive she gave all the granddaughters tea cups every year. I’ve got quite a collection now!

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with my hubby and boys

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? My Mom’s Walnut Pie

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Doing the Advent ring for 4 Sundays before Christmas.

17. What tops your tree? A star

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Giving

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Mary’s Song

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Yum!

Saturday was spent cleaning, doing laundry and decorating for Christmas. We pushed through the sniffles and headaches and got it done! But Sunday, oh my word. We did NOTHING!

I downloaded a few more knitting podcasts and a new audiobook and finished my charity hat for the week. Dh tried on the new one and it was decided he would like one of these beanie styles (no folded over edge) so I worked for quite awhile to cast-on two hats at once ala Magic Loop. I am SO glad that is behind me! What a pain in the arse! But it’s done and now I can merrily knit away – striping as the mood strikes me – and hopefully I’ll have my weekly charity hat and a gift for DH done before next weekend!

All these knitting/crafy podcasts have encouraged me to finish the sweater. You remember it right? What you don’t remember all the way back to January 14, 2006? Then I mentioned having done the back and 1 side on October 6, 2006 – and then…silence. Well, guess what? I knit on it for a couple of hours last night and 1.5 today and…I’ve got the back and 1 side almost done. Readers who have had their coffee will realize that the math does not add up! Well, sadly – I had to frog about 8 inches last night as I realized I had not read the pattern correctly. 🙁 And, now – I’m finally back where started. (sigh)

And, I think 1 year to complete a sweater is a bit much – don’t you? So, let’s agree to get this done before January 14, 2007. What part do you want to knit? 😉 It’s still boring. And, I’m still worried it will not fit me when it’s done. But it’s still some of the nicest yarn I’ve ever knit with and the fact that the stockinette is boring means that I can finish this Henry James story without dropping stitches! Hey! There is an upside to everything!

Only two days until my lace class and arrival of my new book!!
