This week’s box has….

  • Rio Red grapefruit
  • Onion (one red, one white!)
  • Garlic
  • Summer squash….mini balls, crooknecks, patty pans, Italian heirlooms…..lotsa!
  • Chard
  • Kale
  • Winter Savory
  • Beet
  • Carrots

I need to quit just looking at the Kale and try those roast Kale chips! I think we’ll roast the squash too.  And Trina tells me the beets would be yummy roasted too.

I plan to make the chard pasta dish again – going to pick up some shrimp today for a great dinner!

If I can find the juicer, I’ll juice those grapefruit.  But the last ones I just peeled and then dipped in a bit of sugar!  SOO good…a guilty pleasure!

As I walk in my kitchen I can smell my first Gardenia blossom that I picked yesterday.  I love it.

a001It reminds me of my Grandma Davis’ house and all the great memories there.

It’s the little things – the little joys – that brighten my life.

One thing you might not know about my husband, he is a good singer.

And, he enjoys singing.

Sadly he hasn’t had an opportunity to sing regularly – except for church – for a long time.  A few months ago I started to pray that he would find an opportunity with some other men to sing again.

Last night another family came over for root beer floats — though the mommies ended up with chocolate ice cream with fresh strawberries – yeah for mommies! ;-)  Mike brought his guitar and after some great food and fellowship, he pulled it out.  He is amazing!  Not only did he play just a small bit of some of his original work, but just by hearing Eric sing a song – a song he’d never heard before – he could play it!  And play it beautifully.

They did a couple of songs and planned to get together and do it again.  They are even talking about performing togehter.  The very thought of doing anything in public terrifies me – but Eric tells me that sharing the music adds so much more to the experience.

I found some songbooks that Eric had created a few years ago of Victorian Christmas songs.  I think they are going to work on some of these lesser-known songs to share with others next Christmas.

I’m pretty jazzed about the possibilities this new friendship holds for Eric!
