For those of you who blog….do you hate trying to come up with blog post titles?  It’s the HARDEST thing for me!  So, there is an original, catchy one – don’t you think?! lol  (hmm just occured to me – wonder what my hits will look like after writing a post with pot in the title! lol)

Last night I went to The Melting Pot in Sacramento with my Sister-in-laws – Anne and Susan – to celebrate Susan’s birthday.  I didn’t bring my camera but took a couple of crappy pics with my cell phone.

YUMMY!

YUMMY!

Thank you Susan for sharing your birthday with us – I hope the three of us can do it again sometime!

This morning I woke up late (yeah!!) but soon we started our chores. Hubs cleaned out my van – yeah!! – and even vacuumed it. Somebody must have been listening when I said my love language is acts of service! 😉

I worked inside.  Mainly I cleaned one of the kids rooms.  I didn’t get before shots, but I did snap a few so I will have a reminder that it CAN be this clean! lol

I also went through all of Sissy’s clothes and packed up anything too small for our friend, Miss E.  I also packed up most of the cold weather clothes – so I apologize now for the cold spell we are probably going to have now! lol

Sissy is down for a nap now….the boys and Hubs are in Dixon helping with the Food-A-Thon…and I’m doing laundry and planning to knit on the pink bag for awhile.  Tonight friends are coming over for Rootbeer floats in the backyard!  I am loving that patio!

Today is a hard day for me.   After a morning of ceramics at the Pence Gallery in Davis I took J2 and J3 out for Chinese.  And my fortune was “Your ability to love will help a child in need.

J2 response was “You already do that Mom!”

Something I’ll cherish on these hard days.

Yummy!

Yummy!

I tweaked this recipe ever so slightly and made this yummy side dish with my CSA Chard and fresh garlic.  I think next time I’ll toss some shrimp or chicken in and call it the main dish!  Or even try a meatless monday once in awhile!

Sadly all our chard is gone now.  I’m looking at the Kale and the Kale chips recipes (our CSA farmer sent a recipe very similar) and I’m just not sure.  What else can I do with it?

I had a grapefruit for a snack this afternoon….I peeled it and then dipped it in sugar.  I know that’s bad but it tastes SO good! 🙂

My first CSA box is a smashing success so far!

  • I’ve tried (and fell in love with) a loquat
  • tried to entice #1 son to share a pink grapefruit with me, but when that failed decided to juice them.  Wonder where my juicer is….or even if I have one anymore!
  • nibbled raw almonds (yum!!)
  • hung lavender to dry (maybe I’ll put them into a sachet for my drawers)
  • nibbled carrots for lunch (even the boys loved them!)
  • admired the beautiful onion and garlic bulbs
  • and researched how I will prepare the chard (oh yummm!), Kale (? yum ?) and beet

Here is a picture of my bounty!

Can you tell how much I love this?

BEST part?  I didn’t even have to go anywhere to enjoy all this!!
