We haven’t taken the kids to a real sit-down restaurant in awhile I guess.  Thursday night the Chevy’s restaurant in Dixon had a benefit for Eric’s school Neighborhood Christian school so we braved the weather and had a great meal!  Well, Eric, Sissy and I did – but the boys all wanted cheeseburgers – at a Mexican restaurant! lol

Project 365 – Day 86, 279 to go!

Wednesday J3 stayed home from school so he could get his cast (rather than the temporary one he got at the ER on Saturday).  I guess he had MANY color options – including Camo!! – and opted for Green.  His Dad bought him a silver sharpie so he could have friends sign it, but his brother gave him a black one because it shows up better.  He was super-excited to show it off at Awanas – though he was bummed that he could not play any of the games!

He also used the money he got from Grandma & Grandpa O (though they warned him, you only get money for the first broken bone – so no plans for making more money this way!) to buy green army men – LEGO green army men!  This boy seriously loves green!

Project 365 – Day 84, 281 to go!

There were good things and bad things about today’s visit to the DMV for the older boys.  Bad things like the rain and wind pounding us, but good things like the fun people who helped us, and how quickly we were served!

But the worst thing was when I was told it would be 5 MONTHS (!!!) before we got these id cards.  My mouth dropped open as I said, “But we need them by the end of May when the boys are flying cross-country for the TSA.”  That’s when I received the biggest blessing!! Our clerk turned to the her friend in another cubicle and said “Where is that TSA lady?”

It turns out there was a gal there taking her DL test, who works at the Sacramento airport as some sort of TSA superior.  She told me all we needed for their ID was their birth certificate and that I could get a gate pass from the airline and accompany the boys through security and to their gate!!  She also gave me her phone number and email address and encouraged me to contact her if I had any more questions!  What a blessing!

  • 1 batch popped popcorn (we use 1/2 cup unpopped popcorn in our air popper)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Bring sugar, honey and Karo syrup to a boil.  Boil for 2 minutes.

Then mix in peanut butter and vanilla.

In a large bowl, pour mixture over popcorn. Mix thoroughly.

I spread it out on wax paper to cool/dry but we used to just eat it out of the bowl when I was a kid.  But I find it easier to package up after it’s cooled/dried.

Enjoy!! 🙂

Now that we have an air popcorn popper, we can enjoy one of the favorites from MY childhood – “Friday Night Popcorn”.  Not sure what it really was called, but that’s what we called it because we (surprise!) enjoyed it on Friday Nights! 😉

YUM!
