There were good things and bad things about today’s visit to the DMV for the older boys.  Bad things like the rain and wind pounding us, but good things like the fun people who helped us, and how quickly we were served!

But the worst thing was when I was told it would be 5 MONTHS (!!!) before we got these id cards.  My mouth dropped open as I said, “But we need them by the end of May when the boys are flying cross-country for the TSA.”  That’s when I received the biggest blessing!! Our clerk turned to the her friend in another cubicle and said “Where is that TSA lady?”

It turns out there was a gal there taking her DL test, who works at the Sacramento airport as some sort of TSA superior.  She told me all we needed for their ID was their birth certificate and that I could get a gate pass from the airline and accompany the boys through security and to their gate!!  She also gave me her phone number and email address and encouraged me to contact her if I had any more questions!  What a blessing!

3 Thoughts on “Blessings at the DMV

  1. Five months! That is a sure sign of how screwed up this state is. We got Daniel’s in about 4 weeks, back in the day.

  2. Why would it take FIVE MONTHS to get their ID card? It seems like the first time I got an ID card, I got it the same day I went in…

    Glad everything turned out OK.

At what age should you first get an ID card? I hadn’t even thought of that…

    • It’s because they have rolled out these new super-secure cards (we are a border state with Mexico) but they are having problems. 🙁

I’m not sure I would have gotten these except I was told they’d need picture id to travel in May.
