My SIL, Christy, has asked me to teach her to knit!! 🙂 I went through my Grandma’s needles and figured out what I have duplicates of and am able to give her 2 sets of staight needles – size 6 and 9 – and 3 circ needles – size 4, 6 and 8. I’m also able to give her some green wool from my stash and I printed out a few pages of directions. I’m going to have her knit a gauge sample and then I found a simple hat pattern that I think she’ll like. There might be simpler first projects….but I know she likes hats like this so better to be knitting something she would like to finish.
The only bummer is that she is about 3 hours away so I’ll see her this month – next month for her baby shower – in April for arrival of baby 🙂 – and then sometime this summer we’ll have a long weekend or week camping. Maybe I’ll be able to visit a few more times to share my obsession! I’m also looking forward to sharing time with her and my brother – they are neat folk! 🙂
