As you can probably see – I figured out how to incorporate my Tweets (www.twitter.com) into my blog. So, on days where I can only think in 140 characters, you still get to see what is going on! But 140 characters only can explain so much!  So here are some explanations:

  • Adoption.  Our adoption paperwork arrived on Saturday and it’s back in the mail today! :D  So now it will go to a judge and our daughter will be ours!  It’s already done in our hearts but it will be nice to see it in paperwork too!!
  • Television.  We’ve been seeing a lot of bad behavior and attitudes.  We realized that the boys are viewing shows on Disney, Nickelodeon and other “children” channels and really believing that is reality!  In the end we decided to go down to the VERY basic channels – local only really – and see if that helps. If not, then the whole thing will be gone.  I was willing to go cold turkey – but I think this might be the best way to ease out of it.

Well, I guess that’s it.  Not too much longer than 140 characters! lol

4 Thoughts on “Updates on a few things happening

  1. As you know, we’ve been ‘cable-less’ for the last 18-19 yrs. You have now experienced first-hand one of the compelling reasons why that is so. Sorry. Good thing your tv shows can be seen on the web or, much later, on dvd.

  2. We don’t have cable (or satelite) and haven’t for around 10 years or so… So it’s been nice that we can choose what the kids watch (via DVDs or iTunes)… Sadly, they still watch an occasional show with their cousins, that I don’t approve of (when they are over there)… Thankfully, the boys are old enough that when I tell them that I don’t approve of a certain show, they won’t watch it, even elsewhere… Alicia is getting there too, but Amanda doesn’t understand yet…

  3. What we’ve been doing for “tv” time is borrowing “The Waltons” dvds from the library. We started with Season 1 and the kids are loving it. It’s fun for Neal and I to see the shows so many years later, as well.

  4. We didn’t have cable/satellite until about 2 years ago. Weonly got a few local channels and PBS. I was good with that. Thankfully, the kids never took to those shows on Disney. Youngest will watch Sponge Bob and a couple of cartoons, but luckily no bad behavior from it.

I would miss having TV, so would not want to go cold tukey – need my LOST 🙂
