We just had a great visit with my Dad and Connie.  Today they are heading up to Beth & Kev’s.  Sissy’s been up for 1.5 hours and asked for Papa only about 100 times!

J3 has been attending Neighborhood Christian School for a few weeks now.  It’s almost definite he also has dyslexia but not as bad as J2 so I didn’t realize it.  But compared to his peers he’s struggling. So starting today I will teach him spelling and literature at his pace – at home – and he’ll continue with his classmates in other subjects.  Another modification we are making to his schoolwork is that his teacher will allow us to act as his scribe from time to time when writing is required but not graded as he struggles so much with writing as well.

While this encourages me – it also creates more for me to do.  I’m afraid at times that I’m approaching my breaking point.  I have very little time for friends and other activities.  I realize this is a season but it’s still hard to see friendships fade away because I can’t make more time in my life right now.

Gosh I am whiny aren’t I?  I don’t want to be – but if I whine here then I give my Hubs a break.  So forgive me!

My Uncle Steve was visiting this weekend and brought some treasures.  One of them was my Grandpa Watson’s diary from the 1920-somethings.  I didn’t read it – but my Dad was telling me that in Mid November of that year (Grandpa was 17) he wrote that he went with his family to downtown (Los Angeles) to see the Christmas lights.  So while we think that Christmas starts earlier and earlier these days – it started pretty early back then too!

Thanksgiving Dinner – I’m hosting it at my house.  I think there will be 18 of us, not as big of a crowd as some years.  I have looked and looked at the menu but feel like I’m missing something – what am I missing?

  • Turkey, Stuffing, gravy
  • veggies (probably 2 dishes of some sort)
  • mashed potatoes
  • sweet potatoes (because I LIKE them! Yum)
  • rolls
  • cranberry sauce
  • drinks
  • pies for dessert

Am I missing anything?

Well kids are waking – I know I had more to say but the thoughts are on the wind again and I can’t get them back!

  1. Hey sis – you are missing a salad of some sort… maybe jello???

I’ll be praying for you and your time as a mom and an individual!!! Your true friends will still be there for you on the days you can make a minute or 10.

    LOVE YOU!!!!

  2. How cool it would be to have a diary from a grandparent! Awesome!

And all that talk of Thanksgiving is making me hungry for turkey! *lol*
