Tonight we had The Pioneer Woman‘s Cauliflower Soup and it was YUMMMMMMMY!!

Along with it we had the whole wheat bread that Christy and I made yesterday.  That was fun and her recipe was much easier than the way I was taught to make bread.

Here are a few pictures from our day:

We also made Sour Dough Biscuits (the hearts) – which was a recipe from my Momma’s Momma.  Here is the recipe – it couldn’t be simpler and it was so much better than bisquick biscuits!

Sour Dough Biscuits

  • 1 pkg yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 cup buttermilk (or 2 cups milk & 2 tbsp vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 8 cups flour

Dissolve yeast in water.  Then add all the ingredients, mix together, roll out to about 1″ after kneading slightly.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15 min or so.

I’m waiting for my SIL’s go-ahead before I post her bread recipe.  🙂

2 Thoughts on “Another Meatless Monday

  1. Way to go! I am finding meatless is pretty easy, much easier than vegan. I have about 30 cookbooks out from the library on vegetarian, vegan etc and have been copying down recipes… if I try each one, we’ll be full for a long time to come! LOL When I come across good ones, I’ll have to send them your way.

  2. Heart shaped biscuits! Awesome!!!
