I must have read these each from cover to cover a dozen or more times. There were entries about all sorts of stuff in the real world. But I liked the short story and poetry volumes the best. The illustrations captivated my imagination – I loved to stare at them and read my favorites over and over and over. I think how I look at the world was largely shaped by stuff in here! Wierd I know but they were that important to me. It distresses me to no end that none of my boys have ANY interest in them or any other book for that matter. :o(
I have a similar set, from when I was little, but mine is called “The Bookshelf for Boys and Girls” (or something like that). I love them!
