I.AM.SUCH.AN.IDIOT!!!!!
So, surely you read about how I picked up my sweater again and to start knitting and how I realized I need to frog about 8″ because I had misread the pattern! But I cheerfully frogged it and got back to where I was and now I’m on side #2 and I’m at the point where I’m to decrease 2 times for the next 7 rows. The same place I had messed up, but fixed now, on the other side panel. After attending yesterday’s lace class I know now that ssk will slant to the left and k2tog will slant to the right. And, I realize I want to ssk so that it will look nice. So I decrease the first row – yes, 2 times as the pattern instructs. And, it hits me. DECREASE! Not bind off! OH.MY.WORD!! I have a sinking feeling in my stomach as I turn off the podcast and reach for the other side panel. Despair! I.am.an.idiot. (sigh) I had BO 2x for 7 rows and then again at the neckline. (bigger sigh)
Part of me says “let it go – it’s your first sweater – you should have mistakes”. The other part of me – the part I’m going to listen to – is telling me “you will not be proud of this sweater – like you should be – if you do not fix this mistake.” And, yes…I hear my college psychology professor chanting “Don’t should on yourself!” π
I’m just sick about this! It’s definitely going in the time-out drawer until I can face it again. Back to charity hats! At least they like me!

oh man! That’s a bummer! But you wouldn’t be a real knitter if you didn’t do something like this occasionally. :-)I think you will be much happier that you frog and re-do it (although some knitting patterns do have you bind off stitches instead of decrease, but it generally looks nicer with decreases). At least it’s the side and not the back where it would be tons of knitting to undo.
Aack! If it were me I’d probably scream AND cry. Time out in a drawer (for the sweater, not you π ) sounds like a smart idea. π
To answer your question, we do have 3 stockings in our house, but the 3rd is store-bought and would make my two look even, er, “quainter” if they were all in the photo together. π
I know how that goes. I was working on Louis’ blanket a few weeks ago and had started the second skein. I was half-way through that one when I noticed that I must have misread the dye lots because the colors are not the same. I was so mad at myself I stopped working on it. *sigh* Guess I should pick it up over our vacation.
