Annika's Socks, started February 2nd, 2007, finished February 17th, 2007
Pattern: Toe-Up, Magic Loop, K1P1 then K2P2
Yarn:KnitPicks Parade (75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon) – Now discontinued 🙁
Needles: Addi Turbos 2
Pattern Notes: I wanted to do a toe-up sock but I’m really not happy with the heel. I had to do a short row and I just don’t like how they look! 🙁 Trying a new pattern this week and going to try toe-up with gusset heel. I really want to find my “Standard Sock” method! This was close, but not it!
Would I knit it again? Yes – but I don’t like the heel.

One Thought on “Finished Annika's Socks

  1. I’ve been doing toe up for years, but recently did the short row toe up and I think that that is easier, however I found that the short row heel is too squared and angular whereas most heels are rounded and it looks weird both on and off the foot. When I see Wendy Johnson’s socks they don’t look weird, but when I knit it with her directions…they look WEIRD! I think I am going to modify my old toe up sock pattern to do a short row toe but a gusseted heel. I also wonder if the short row heels are weaker. I like to reinforce my socks with wooly nylon. (JoAnn’s, made for sergers) And I like the heels were you slip every other stitch so it looks like ribbing a bit. For me those seems to wear longer…which if I am going to pay $20 and put all that effort into a sock…I better be able to wear it for awhile! LOL
