Sorry I’ve been quiet again. I started babysitting my nephew this week. I forgot how tiring it is to have a young one around. After Josh died I was sure I wanted another baby….but now I realize that part of that was trying to replace him and that’s simply not possible. I’m ready to move into a new season of life…not sure what that season will be like, but I’m looking forward to it.
On the knitting front, I’m at the part of “The Thing” where I’m adding a cardigan edge (?is that right?) well, it’s just confusing. My socks are still there but I’ve no had time to play with them. I knit a bit more of DHs afghan last night while watching a Rock Hudson movie – yummy! I’d like to finish SOMETHING but life is just too busy to give more than just a few minutes here or there to these projects. Oh well, I enjoy working on them and am not sure what I’d do next anyway! 🙂
I’ve joined a few fun things lately….Fiber RAOK, Secret Pals 4 and February Flowers – I’ll try to post links to all of those things asap. Maybe after church tomorrow!
I’ve been knitting quite a bit, but now I’m quilting again! Theresa and I started our quilting class this week! The class is more of a philosophy class so far rather than task oriented. The teacher blew me away with her knowledge! Turns out she teaches in Davis too, so I might take another look at their classes.
Today, Saturday, I finally had a chance to consider our homework and realized I didn’t know what I was supposed to do! LOL So, I’m going to just do a wall hanging or a block or two (we’ll see what I actually have time for!) and see what happens.
I went to Walmart today and bought some cheap fabric. I bought two florals, a white with a soft pattern, a soft lilac and a dark burgundy print. Surprisingly, they all go with each other but it’s more a mix and match thing rather than all five together. Maybe I’ll take a picture of them tomorrow.
Well, tomorrow is our first Bible Study (Beth Moore’s “Breaking Free”) so I’d better get offline and get prepared! I’ll post pics as soon as I start sewing!
OH!! Before I forget…I finally found out who made my Kenmore machine! Turns out it is a Necchi Logica – a great machine at the time. Sometimes I think I should invest in a new machine, but this one does everything I need…well, it will once I get the manual I purchased and the walking foot that I’ll be buying this week!
Sorry I haven’t written in awhile – what a time I’ve been having! #1 son turned 10 this weekend (sob, double digits!!) and had a friend sleep over and a small family party. Well, now that we actually live around family again that is still 16 people! It might be cheaper to have a friends party!! I spent 75% of the weekend in bed…I even felt too icky to knit! I read or laid there and whined ;). DH was a trooper though – he went grocery shopping (at three stores no less) and made dinner! Sunday I got out of bed and did laundry and baked a birthday cake and cupcakes. Then after the party – but while family was still visiting – I put my feet up in my recliner and knit on my socks. I have’t had a chance to work on them and I’m starting to think I’ll never finish!
Yesterday it was back to a regular school schedule and I was able to knit for one uninterrupted hour while #2 son did his gymastics. But today…today has been anything but normal. #1 son stayed hom from school (he attends the school where DH teaches) complaining of a stomache again. We are about at whit’s end trying to figure out what is causing these stomach aches. Fortunately, his doctor called to schedule some labwork for the referral to a specialist (they suspect Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and since J1 was home ill, they were glad to have him come in. Long story short (is it possible? 😉 we lived through the experience but I find myself emotionally drained.
I’d be looking forward to an evening of therapy knitting, but tonight is one of three quilting classes with my friend Theresa. I know it will be fun, but it’s not relaxing like curling up under my blankey with my knitting needles. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow!
My hubby did such a good job on our yearly newsletter that I just included as is (a Word Doc) on our website. To view it go back to our sitemenu and then click on the link. 🙂
Today my oldest turns 10 – and it’s the start of a new year. My only resolution this year is simply to enjoy my children TODAY. The last few years have taught me (among sooo many other things) that we are fools if we assume there is tomorrow.
