Today I decided that I deserve a poncho! And a fluffy scarf!! So, I decided to buy some new yarn! If you’ve been reading my blog you know that I’ve been freaking out about what type of fiber to buy and how much. Well, thank God for Lion Brand website and Walmart’s inexpensive yarns!

For the poncho I bought Lion Brand Homespun #322 Baroque – a nice soft purple. (I’ll try to post pictures tomorrow!) For the scarf I bought Bernat Eye Lash #35006 – a purple/green/brown/teal color – that will match my new black leather coat! My new coat is actually a hand-me-down from a friend at church – what a blessing!! It is just what I would have picked out if I could have picked one out – and I never could have afforded this!

My friend, Ruth bought a skien of Lion Brand’s chenille and I’m going to make her a quick garter stitch scarf! Other than these 3 projects, I’m going to finish my “Thing” and start some flowers for the February Flower Exchange. The socks, sweater for my niece and DHs afghan are on hold!

I’ve done exactly 24 stitches this week! Not rows! Stitches! 🙁 I spent a little time cruising yarn stores online and realized I didn’t have a clue what I like or how to buy yarn. I mean…I know what colors I like. But how do I know what is itchy and what is soft? How do I learn how much is an adequate amount to buy for a project?

I wish I had felt more welcomed at the LYS when I visited…I’d like to have a place where I felt experts resided and cared about what I was doing, learning….but I only felt that I was intruding on them and I have zero interest in returning. 🙁

I know I’m just tired….my head in hurting….my house is dirty….and the laundry pile is growing. Anyone want to trade lives for awhile?

Now do I have to tell you my real age?? 38!! I’m glad it didn’t turn out I was acting older than my age! 😉

40+: You are a mature adult. You’ve been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Well, there is nothing like a challenge to get my motivated! LOL I was reading my favorite knitting blogs and noticed a challenge in Violet’s blog – to ME!!! So now I’ve got the motivation needed to work on my thing again. And, time to start thinking about what I want to make for my “Son of the Thing”!

Also, I’m taking part in the February Flower Exchange! February – being the anniversary of Joshie’s death – is a hard time for me. When I heard about this I thought it would be a great idea to keep my hands busy during a month where I normally just become catatonic. So, I’ll be making flowers for my buddy and posting pics here. I hope this is an annual event….who doesn’t need a pick-me-up in February!!

So, now I’m motivated again! Phew!!
