TerrificTuesday

Terrific Tuesday is a weekly chance to share what you is making you smile. Maybe it’s a person or a thing or even an idea! Post about it on your blog, come back here and link up your post so others can see what we think is Terrific on Tuesday! 😀 And, please tell your friends so they can join us!

As I mentioned yesterday, last week was a blur and I didn’t even remember to post my TT! But this week school is out for most of us, Hubs has 3 more days, and I can relax some! So, here are a few things that make this Tuesday Terrific:

20130610-133138.jpgThis robin’s nest which we found in our tree and which prompted a small nature study.

Listening to my girl play with her dollhouse since we have whole days with no requirements to go anywhere or do anything if we don’t want to!

My new header… That is my Hubs, J1(18), J2(16), J3(12) and Sissy(5.5). I loved my flowers but was ready for a bit of a change!

I am blessed!

So, what about you? Remember – Don’t make this too hard. You can write a book about your blessings or just share a photo or a quick note about what made you smile this week. No rules! ok…one rule. Please link to the actual post and not just to your blog.

If you have ANY questions about any of this – please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Hope you smile today!!

I have NO idea why I haven’t posted lately! I even missed my Terrific Tuesday which I need so much to keep my head in the right place!  But it was the last week of school and the next thing I knew it was Thursday afternoon – school was out – and I realized I had missed it! But I am looking at a summer with lots of potential so I am hopeful there will be lots of time for blogging! 🙂

Thanks to I’m An Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday!

Today I forgot to turn on my weekend alarm clock so at 7am when the 5 yr old wanted help getting dressed, I was still deep asleep.  Normally my body has been waking me up, but not today!  After I got up (grumbling all the way), I was met by a fight between the 12 yr old and 5 yr old. Nice, not.

Then a walk into the kitchen showed me that the dishes fairy had not come AND no one had bothered to rinse or soak their dishes.

Ok, I might have had a little tantrum then….I’m not sure as it was pre-coffee!

But that was just another opportunity to see that I am a much better wife (did you hear me grumping about my Hubs? hope not!) and mom (I definitely was grumpy mom this morning!) when I awake before my family!  I might still be grumpy about the dishes in the sink, but I can quickly rinse them out while the Lord reminds me that I am blessed because they are all here and healthy!

So, thank you Lord, for the lesson! Let’s hope I can really learn it this time!

Linking up with Miranda’s Random 5 on Friday – let me know if you join too!

  1. Our oldest came home last night and so far we are having a good time together! Maybe this last incident was really what it was going to take. I hope so because I am praying really hard for this kid!
  2. Reading one of the books from my list and it is really making me think – so much that I’ve been thinking more than knitting or blogging – you know I’m serious then!  But it explains so much about how people work! Not sure who recommended this book to me – but THANK YOU!! The book is called “Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control” by Heather Forbes, check it out if you have kiddos or family who have dealt with trauma (it affects everything they do!).
  3. As you might have seen on Facebook and Twitter, Hubs and I joined a local health club for their aqua classes.  We’ve gone to two classes so far and had a blast (well, I have…he’s adjusting!)  I love, love, love anything in the water.  And, regular exercise is so helpful to my frame of mind!
  4. Next week is the last 4 days of school for my 2 youngest kids.  And, it sounds like it will be fun!  But I still wish they could just be home next week!
  5. I am finishing up week 4 with the Hello Morning gals and it is making such a difference in my day-to-day life.  It is so great to wake up before the sun, sip some coffee and just enjoy the quiet Bible reading time before the family is up.  Then I can greet them with a smile and a plan for the day! If you need to make a change, give it a try!  You won’t be sorry!

kindle-vs-ipad-top-2

For several years I haven’t been to do much reading. Maybe it was the mental space required to keep going that simply didn’t allow new thoughts to enter my brain and stay there or maybe it was the fact that I was falling asleep as soon as I got into bed.  Either way, if it wasn’t Agatha Christie or some little bit of fluff, it just wasn’t getting much attention.

But now I’m wanting craving reading time!  And, between my Kindle and my iPad, I have quite a queue of good books to read!  Here is a list for me to keep track of what I want to read!

  • Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control – volumes one and two, by Heather Forbes
  • Shepherding a Child’s Heart, (reread) by Tedd Tripp
  • Instructing a Child’s Heart, by Tedd & Margy Tripp
  • Adoptive Parent Intentional Parent, by Stacy Manning
  • Hope for the Weary Mom, (reread by Stacey Thacker & Brooke McGlothin
  • What’s It like to be Married to me?: and Other Dangerous Questions, by Linda Dillow
  • Forgotten God, Francis Chan
  • Erasing Hell, Francis Chan

So, this might take longer than my Summer will allow!

What are you reading? Got any book recommendations I should consider adding to my list?
