Knit & Crochet Blog Week, Day Two: A Mascot Project

Today’s task was to either think of or research a project that embodies the house/animal we chose. In my Prekids life, I worked at a Library (favorite job EVER).  There I had unlimited opportunities to research anything I was interested in at the time.  I think I loved that job, because I love gathering and sharing information.  Lately, I’ve enjoyed mucking about in Ravelry’s database of patterns.  Just a few keywords and I have a huge about of patterns to choose from!

Today I used the keywords bee, bumble bee and honeycomb and found some real treasures (and a couple I had to share just because…well, you’ll see! 😉

ENJOY!!  (please note these are all Ravelry links – if you don’t have an account – WHY NOT?!?! 😉

So, do you menu plan?  If not, how in the world do you grocery shop?  One reason I menu plan is because I don’t want to waste time at the grocery store.  I have a busy life, so repeated trips to the grocery store would NOT be a good idea!

Thanks to I’m An Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday!  I hope you participate too!

Here is this week’s plan:

I was on a site this week – sadly, I can’t find it again to link to it – where the blogger had an April bucket list. Genius, right?! How better to be intentional than to make a list and check them off. Some of my initial ideas are
day at the beach
lay out on a blanket and watch the stars
make homemade Popsicles
read a book on a blanket under a tree
visit the library weekly
…

In no way a final list, but I have a few more weeks to do that. I want to get my hubs & kids input too. I think I will put the list on my blog and check off things as we do them. I hope this will be a good summer with lots of family time!

Do you have any ideas for us? (Cheap as possible please) do you make lists like this? If you do, and you share them online, please let me know!

Trying something new today!  My friend and coworker, April, posted this and I thought I’d try it too!

  1. Crocs might be the ugliest shoe in the world, but if I keep wearing my Crocs, I have ZERO plantar fasciitis pain! Worth it!!
  2. Somebody wanted to be a princess yesterday – I think she nailed it! ;- ) Yes, that’s her slip!  princessRight down to her shoes! shoes
  3. I am feeling guilty because it is very apparent that J3 needs to not be in the public school system anymore.  The guilt is because I was really starting to enjoy the freedom and quiet.  I am working hard to adjust my attitude. I’m always saying that there are Seasons in my life, I think I was pushing myself into a Season that my children aren’t ready for! I want what is best for my kids, not what is easiest for me!
  4. Today my Hubs only has a 1/2 day and then is off for 3 weeks!! yeah!! and OH NO!! 😉  Those of you with wah Hubs might understand!  Seriously, I am looking forward to morning coffee on the back patio and some walks in the afternoon.  Should be nice!
  5. Tonight’s dinner is soup and grilled cheese – does anyone else totally run out of steam sometime on Friday afternoon?  It’s like all the weariness of the week descends upon me.  I am learning to just adjust my expectations of the day and go with it.  But it’s weird, right?

Ok, that’s it!  I’ve got to get my homeschooler going on schoolwork and get a shower before our speech therapist arrives at 10am!  Hoping to do another Virtual Knit Night Afternoon today!! 😀  Have a great Friday!!

I’m challenging myself to write more. To that end, I’ve found a site called “Mama’s Losin’ It!” which shares weekly writing prompts. This week it was very hard to chose a topic from the list of 5 (visit her website to see them all).  Nothing seemed to fit me.  Finally, at the last minute, I chose “Write a poem about your favorite place to be”.

Loud.
Busy.
Filled.
Tears.
Laughter.
Hugs.
Learning.
Chores.
Comforting.
Welcoming.
Safe.

Home.
