Linking up with Miranda’s Random 5 on Friday – let me know if you join too!

  1. It is official – well, something has to be filed, but for ME it is official – that Sissy will repeat Kindergarten with her current teacher.  She is getting speech therapy, small group teaching with the RSP and even being seen weekly by the school psychologist to help with her anxiety.
  2. I can hear you Homeschool moms screaming at me to bring this baby home.  But my Hubs and I agreed that I need a bit of a break right now. When our oldest special learner graduates (Lord willing only 2 more years left) then I will bring her home.  Until then, I am completely at peace with what we are doing with her.
  3. I have completed all my preliminary lesson plans for my 11th grader and just starting to look at online curriculum options for my 7th grader (next year). Anyone had experience with OdysseyWare or Study Island as a homeschooler?
  4. I bought cherries last night and seriously considering NOT sharing them with the kids!  Do you think I’m a horrible mom now?
  5. Tomorrow I think I’m headed with my Sister to Sacramento/Folsom to do some clothes shopping. Hate shopping, but I love spending time with my Sister!

What to play along? Today’s questions can be found here.

1. Do you have a doppelgänger?
No, but when I was a young teenager, my Grandparents traveled to Austria to visit family.  They came home and told me there was a young girl in the family who looked just like me!  Hope she is still alive and happy!
2. Do you keep your car cleaned up?
No. Call me sexist, but I do all the inside work – cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc – and let the guys in the family take care of the yard and cars. I wish it was cleaner, but not so much that I’m going to take what little free time I have to clean it up!
3. What is a current fashion that drives you crazy.
Low cropped pants for little girls…well, little girl fashions in general! I don’t want to dress my daughter like an adult or like a rock star. What happened to sweet sun dresses?! Sometimes I wish I could sew…but then I get over it!
4. How often do you go grocery shopping?
I strive for once every two weeks, but then it really becomes weekly as most fruits and vegetables go quickly in our home! So, I’m usually running back to get more! But I still hold on to the fantasy that I don’t do it weekly! lol
5. What has been the best surprise of your life?
That I would actually enjoy being a stay at home mom! I knew it was what necessary, but I struggled with giving up my job (which I loved). It has been 15 years now (Yes, I do work from home, but that is completely different) I am praying I can stay at home as long as possible. A family really needs someone to keep it going and I’m privileged to be that one!

I haven’t posted one of these in awhile!  When I looked at my knitting bag, it was pretty much all one project, my February Lady Sweater. I did finish a few things in the last month, so I haven’t been completely neglectful of my knitting. But overall, there hasn’t been a lot of knitting time lately!

So, here are some updated pictures of my February Lady – using Cotton Fleece yarn (80% cotton/20% merino wool) in Slate Charcoal:

It’s normal state! LOL

TerrificTuesday

Terrific Tuesday is a weekly chance to share what you is making you smile.  Maybe it’s a person or a thing or even an idea!  Post about it on your blog, come back here and link up your post so others can see what we think is Terrific on Tuesday! 😀  And, please tell your friends so they can join us!

This last weekend was Mother’s day.  Historically that is a week which has been a real downer for me.  First it was infertility, then after losing Joshua it always a day of grief too.  I’m doing better in the grief department but it still can be a mixed blessings day.  However, this year, my youngest boy made me a cake!

You will note there is no picture of the finished cake.  Oops! But it was good and we shared it with my mom and sister so they can attest to it’s goodness too!  It was so nice to be thought of that way! Also, my Hubs and second oldest made me a big breakfast Sunday morning – pics of that are on Facebook if you are my FB friend. 🙂

So, what about you?  Remember – Don’t make this too hard. You can write a book about your blessings or just share a photo or a quick note about what made you smile this week. No rules! ok…one rule. Please link to the actual post and not just to your blog.

If you have ANY questions about any of this – please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Hope you smile today!!

MPM-Spring

This one is a bit of a challenge because Hubs goes back to school, the big boys are volunteering to serve at a dinner (with one rehearsal meeting) and it’s not quite payday! Busy schedules + low grocery fund = a bit of stress – thankful for tried & true family favorites!  So, here is this week’s plan:

  • Monday – Oven fried chicken
  • Tuesday – Hubs setting up classroom, Knit Night for me & boys meeting – Spaghetti & meatballs
  • Wednesday –  Inlaws here – Chicken Teriyaki & Broccoli over brown rice
  • Thursday – Hamburgers on the Grill and green salad
  • Friday –  HM Burritos or leftovers
  • Saturday – Chicken stroganoff in slow cooker before church
  • Sunday – Big Family Dinner (inlaws, my mom & whomever else shows up! lol) – BBQ (tri tip? london broil? chicken?)

Thanks to I’m An Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday!
