While walking awhile ago, one of my walking buddies braved the busy traffic on Road 98 (a busy country road that borders our community) to retrieve this….whatever it is!  After checking it out, none of had a clue what it was.  I offered to bring it home and have my boys dissect it as we are studying Botany.

We observed that is it more lightweight than heavy, sticky and has a sweet smell.

Today we were excited to open it. We sort of expected to find a big seed like an avocado – but we ….well, you can see below (you can click the photos to see them bigger):

    I have seen these before and think it may be an Osage Orange or something like that.
