Linking up with Miranda’s Random 5 on Friday – let me know if you join too!

  1. Our oldest came home last night and so far we are having a good time together! Maybe this last incident was really what it was going to take. I hope so because I am praying really hard for this kid!
  2. Reading one of the books from my list and it is really making me think – so much that I’ve been thinking more than knitting or blogging – you know I’m serious then!  But it explains so much about how people work! Not sure who recommended this book to me – but THANK YOU!! The book is called “Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control” by Heather Forbes, check it out if you have kiddos or family who have dealt with trauma (it affects everything they do!).
  3. As you might have seen on Facebook and Twitter, Hubs and I joined a local health club for their aqua classes.  We’ve gone to two classes so far and had a blast (well, I have…he’s adjusting!)  I love, love, love anything in the water.  And, regular exercise is so helpful to my frame of mind!
  4. Next week is the last 4 days of school for my 2 youngest kids.  And, it sounds like it will be fun!  But I still wish they could just be home next week!
  5. I am finishing up week 4 with the Hello Morning gals and it is making such a difference in my day-to-day life.  It is so great to wake up before the sun, sip some coffee and just enjoy the quiet Bible reading time before the family is up.  Then I can greet them with a smile and a plan for the day! If you need to make a change, give it a try!  You won’t be sorry!

MPM-Spring

Wow, to show you how quickly things change – it’s Monday and I’m already changing my mind on what we will eat today. Our church BBQ was rained out, so we invited a family with a little girl Sissy’s age to come over for dinner tonight!  A quick shuffle and here is what I *think* we will have this week for dinner!

  • Monday – Hamburgers on grill, Pasta Salad, Baked Beans
  • Tuesday – Chicken Enchiladas with leftover chicken
  • Wednesday –  Inlaws here (maybe) – Chicken Teriyaki with rice & broccoli
  • Thursday –  Spaghetti or Taco Pasta (we’ll see what I feel like cooking lol)
  • Friday – Leftovers (I might need to pick up some pizza rolls or something just in case leftovers are scarce)
  • Saturday – Chicken stroganoff in the slow cooker
  • Sunday – Inlaws & my mom here –  Roast chicken

Thanks to I’m An Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday!

What to play along? Today’s questions can be found here.

1. Do you have a doppelgänger?
No, but when I was a young teenager, my Grandparents traveled to Austria to visit family.  They came home and told me there was a young girl in the family who looked just like me!  Hope she is still alive and happy!
2. Do you keep your car cleaned up?
No. Call me sexist, but I do all the inside work – cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc – and let the guys in the family take care of the yard and cars. I wish it was cleaner, but not so much that I’m going to take what little free time I have to clean it up!
3. What is a current fashion that drives you crazy.
Low cropped pants for little girls…well, little girl fashions in general! I don’t want to dress my daughter like an adult or like a rock star. What happened to sweet sun dresses?! Sometimes I wish I could sew…but then I get over it!
4. How often do you go grocery shopping?
I strive for once every two weeks, but then it really becomes weekly as most fruits and vegetables go quickly in our home! So, I’m usually running back to get more! But I still hold on to the fantasy that I don’t do it weekly! lol
5. What has been the best surprise of your life?
That I would actually enjoy being a stay at home mom! I knew it was what necessary, but I struggled with giving up my job (which I loved). It has been 15 years now (Yes, I do work from home, but that is completely different) I am praying I can stay at home as long as possible. A family really needs someone to keep it going and I’m privileged to be that one!

  1. As I’ve changed my daily routine, I’ve found it a bit harder to blog. But here I am! Waiting for dinner to cook, and enjoying the quiet. HA! NOT! There is no quiet in this house at 5pm on a Friday! lol
  2. Today I blocked one of the shawlettes I knit for Mother’s day.  I don’t think my mom will read this as she is at my Sister’s and I don’t think my MIL reads my blog.  So, here is 1 of 2 (blocking the other one tonight, I’ll try to post pics tomorrow:gmaoshawl
  3. My oldest is home for Mother’s day…and when I say home, I mean he’s here in town….somewhere…and we’ve gotten to see him once or twice! 😉  He promised me he’d be here tomorrow night for a BBQ with his grandparents and spend ALL of Mother’s day with me. Hope so!
  4. My Hubs gifted me with new dry erase markers for my board! YEAH! Look for next week’s verse to be MUCH easier to read!  They come attached to magnets so you can put them on your board.  However, on the packaging, it says to store them horizontally.  They hang vertically! LOL  Someone messed up!
  5. My family just left to go to the grocery store – I believe they are buying supplies for a special Mother’s day breakfast! Yum!

So, that’s my 5! If you click on the graphic above, you can read other random Friday posts! Have a great weekend!
