TerrificTuesday

Terrific Tuesday is a weekly chance to share what you is making you smile. Maybe it’s a person or a thing or even an idea! Post about it on your blog, come back here and link up your post so others can see what we think is Terrific on Tuesday! 😀 And, please tell your friends so they can join us!

Normally I post this first thing in the morning, but I had a deadline I needed to meet before I could blog. In fact, now I am so tired that I am a bit discouraged and listening to that voice in my head that says ‘why bother? No one will read it.” But then I remember that I need to write this post to keep those thoughts at bay. If I think on positive, happy things, I will remain positive. So today here is a quick list of things that make this Tuesday Terrific:

  • leftover chicken in the fridge, just enough to make a family favorite without a lot of prep!
  • tonight is knit night!
  • no new bills in the mail
  • tomorrow I plan to get in the water to exercise! I so love the water!
  • my little house and my little family
  • a great collection of books to be read and about an hour and half to do just that!

I am blessed!

So, what about you? Remember – Don’t make this too hard. You can write a book about your blessings or just share a photo or a quick note about what made you smile this week. No rules! ok…one rule. Please link to the actual post and not just to your blog.

If you have ANY questions about any of this – please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Hope you smile today!!

I was thinking about the years I was sewing merit badges on vests, shirts and sashes and how I would love to display my own merit badges. Just today I’m sure I earned

  • Explaining to a Kindergarten (who doesn’t know how to tell time) when 4 o’clock is and why it is not now
  • Convincing same Kindergartner than she CAN clean her room without my help
  • Not having a single moment to myself but being OK with that

But before I wrote the post, I found this website:  Mom Merit Badge  where she says “Those Mom Victories, that no one but another mother/parent would understand, deserve a Merit Badge.” Yes!

To find out which merit badges you qualify for, go to her site, peruse her list of Merit Badges and award yourself or award a friend!  How Fun!  I love how she shares her own stories for each Merit Badge she earned!  Sadly, She hasn’t posted any new ones since March 2013, hope she continues – it’s quite creative!

Give her a visit and see why I gave myself this merit badge today!

MPM-Spring

Wow, to show you how quickly things change – it’s Monday and I’m already changing my mind on what we will eat today. Our church BBQ was rained out, so we invited a family with a little girl Sissy’s age to come over for dinner tonight!  A quick shuffle and here is what I *think* we will have this week for dinner!

  • Monday – Hamburgers on grill, Pasta Salad, Baked Beans
  • Tuesday – Chicken Enchiladas with leftover chicken
  • Wednesday –  Inlaws here (maybe) – Chicken Teriyaki with rice & broccoli
  • Thursday –  Spaghetti or Taco Pasta (we’ll see what I feel like cooking lol)
  • Friday – Leftovers (I might need to pick up some pizza rolls or something just in case leftovers are scarce)
  • Saturday – Chicken stroganoff in the slow cooker
  • Sunday – Inlaws & my mom here –  Roast chicken

Thanks to I’m An Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday!

TerrificTuesday

I don’t know anyone who is watching the videos of the aftermath of the tornadoes and not holding their families a bit closer today.  Lord, please be with the families who have lost loved ones, or a home or both.  Father, be with them today and let them feel your comfort and love. Give those who can go there and help extra strength and bless them.  Help those of us who can’t go there to find ways to make a difference – maybe it’s to give to the Red Cross or some other chartity that is probably already there making a difference!

Once again I am writing a Terrific Tuesday post after a tragedy.  And, once again, I am determined to keep doing it.  Terrific Tuesday is a weekly chance to share what you is making you smile.  Maybe it’s a person…a product…an ideal.  Whatever it is, it is a chance to be a smile on the internet!  We have enough sadness, let’s post some blessings! To participate, all you need to do is write a post on your blog, come back here and link up your post so others can see what you think is Terrific on Tuesday! 😀  And, please tell your friends so they can join us!

I’ve been saving a few things – little things that have made me smile!

First, not so little, we are done with homeschooling until August! Woot!  Here is J2 at our celebratory lunch!

endofyearcelebrationTrust me, he is happy, but he is a teenager! 😉

I also found a couple of products that I love!  First, my son, J3 found this one:

blush

It is a Glade Refill in their Blush collection called “Pink Diamond”.  It is so nice that (since he is gone to Science Camp) I have ‘borrowed’ it to put in my office! Yummy! Makes me wonder if it’s a perfume I can buy (I’m so NOT a fashionista!).  The label tells me the scent is Plumeria and Sweet Honeysuckle.  LOVE IT!

And, when I was shopping with my sister, we saw this nail polish (you can tell I took this picture as it’s oh so slightly fuzzy – sorry about that!) called Fuzzy Coat from Sally Hansen.

fuzzycoatnailAs you can see from the pictures, it is a nail polish with textures in it. But what makes it so fun is that the names are all knitting related.  The one above is all All Yarned Up and others in the series are Tweedy, Wool Knot, Wool Lite and more! Check it out!

So, what about you?  Don’t make this too hard. You can write a book about your blessings or just share a photo or a quick note about what made you smile this week. No rules! ok…one rule. Please link to the actual post and not just to your blog.

Hope you smile today!!

I just took J3 out to lunch for our semi-annual End-of-school year celebration. He spent most of the time telling me about a book he wants to write this summer with his friends. It will be an expanded version of a D&D game they played.

Then after we returned home, he called his friends and there was talk of back stories and additional characters. I am so impressed!

You might not be impressed, but do you know that this kid reads at maybe a 2nd grade level and writes at maybe a first grade level? He isn’t going to let that stop him from having the life he wants to lead. He was telling me about technology which will take his spoken words and put it into text. And he has great friends who accept him as he is and enjoy being with him!

A few years ago he tried to kill himself, because he was so frustrated with his limitations and now he is telling me how he isn’t going to let his disability keep him from doing what he wants to do! I am am so proud of him!
